Meetings with New Muslims
Meet with Sheikh Abdel Monem
Location: YUSUF MOSQUE
Time: when it is private and convenient to you
Please feel free to contact the mosque in order to meet with members who are volunteering to help new Muslim sisters and brothers with answering questions or forwarding questions to the more learned. We will be having special programs and classes to teach new Muslims about Islam and Qur’an.
If you are a student doing research about an aspect of Islam and would like to meet with new Muslims, you must request permission from the mosque’s staff. You must be able to verify your contact information and research intent (teacher, professor or school letter).
For all other inquiries, please contact the mosque’s staff.

Asalaam Alaykum,
I’m Muslim, however I do not pray, I never learned. I was wondering if I could join a class or if a member from the mosque could teach me how to pray. I tired learning online but its not clear. I want to make sure im doing it right. Please let me know if that is possible.
Thank you,
Aicha
Wa Alaykom Assalam Aicha,
Apologies for the delayed response! Thank you for your inquiry, you are welcome to come tomorrow evening if that is possible for you. There will be a short talk after the isha prayer and a community potluck dinner, like we do every Saturday evening. We will be glad to help you out. There will be some sisters also that you could meet during that time and inshaAllah they will be more than happy to answer questions that you might have.
The isha prayer starts at 7:30pm.
if this time is not convenient, please let us know.
Regards,
Ilyas
Hello,
I am a graduate student interested in visiting your mosque for a culture and diversity assignment. We are instructed to immerse ourselves into the culture of our choice, and I would love to learn about your mosque and religion. Can you tell me what day and time is best to visit? I would also like to participate in or observe prayer if possible. I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you,
Sonya
Dear Sonya,
Thank you for choosing Yusuf Mosque as a study for your assignment. It’s an honor for the mosque. We fully encourage you. In fact we welcome you to attend the Friday prayer and sermon. There is one tomorrow which starts at 1pm. You might want to come early around 12:30pm. You are welcome to take notes and record audio for your reference.
Also, Every Friday evening at 7pm, the Imam animates a friendly open Q&A circle, men and women. All encouraged to ask questions. Everything you wanted to know about religion and were too shy to ask.
This Saturday Dec 5, 2009 is an interesting evening to attend. At 7pm after the last prayer, which you’re welcome to attend, there will be a short lecture followed by a modest potluck dinner in a warm and multi-cultural environment. You’ll get a nice opportunity to chat with a bunch of people and ask anything you want to know about cultures and religion.
Please reply or email us at masjidyusuf@gmail.com for anything you’d like to know.
Best Regards
Asalaam Alaykum,
I am a Sister in the Boston area who would like to re-connect with the Islamic Community. I am a convert of almost 9 years and would like to join the Saturday Sister’s class, inshaAllah. I am wondering if there is a registration required? Or do I just show up? Any information would be appreciated. Jazakallah Khair.
Alaykum Assalam, thank you for your interest in the Saturday’s meeting. No registration is required. Just come on over. You’re more than welcome!
Regards
Hello,
I am a high school student taking the Feature Writing on Race and Ethnicity course at Harvard Summer School. For my next article I am hoping to write the story of a muslim convert (someone who converted to Islam). If you could e-mail me with potential contacts, that would be of great help!
Regards,
Yasmeen Husain
Yasmeen salam,
Thank you for your interest. We encourage you to attend this Saturday’s weekly meeting at the mosque from 6-7 pm to speak with a staff member. You must be able to verify your contact information and research intent (teacher, professor or school letter). You can also send us your instructor’s name, phone # and someone will contact you shortly. If you are doing research about an aspect of Islam and would like to meet with new Muslims, you may potentially be able to attend these meetings and be matched with a contact at the mosque.
You’re welcome to invite your friends and whoever you think might be interested.
Regards.
