    This is the introductory lecture in the series of lectures into the person’s repentence and the forgiveness of Allah. Brother Smail delves into the origin of the word Tawba and some of its qualities as well as the types of forgiveness according to the scholars and Quran. He succintly explains the natural state of mind of human beings in relation to asking for forgiveness from Allah and how Tawba helps us realize our purpose in the this World.

    Look forward to the next lecture for a look at the different types of sins and how we can avoid them and purify ourselves from those sins.

    Brother Smail continues from the previous night’s Khathira on Forgiveness of Allah. In addition he looks at the important Battle of Badr and lessons for us from this historic Battle. Incidentally, it is in the 17th day of Ramadan that the Battle of Badr was fought. We will hear the concern of the Ansars in Madina, the resolve of the Muslims in the face of a impossible situation and risk to their lives for the sake of Allah and other important lessons.

    Assalamu Alaikum Brothers and Sisters,

    This is another lecture of the many lectures at Yusuf Mosque given every night in Ramadan for your benefit.

    Brother Basem, as he has done throught this Ramadan, has produced another meaningful but concise lecture in addressing the important matter of brotherhood (Ukhuwwa in Arabic) of the Muslims. Ukhuwwa is a general term applying to sisterhood and brotherhood.

    He starts off with a narration of a Hadith that provides us with the correct approach to brotherhood. We also hear how Umar Al Khattab provides an excellent example of how to treat your fellow Muslims. We will also hear more examples of how the Companions treated their fellow Muslims and their genuine concern for them.

    Dr Basem wraps up the lecture with a few practical points on how to strengthen your kinship with your brothers and sisters daily in this world so we meet them Insha Allah in Jannah forever.

    Ramadan 2009 (Night 11): With The Prophet Mercy and The Companions’ Love III By Dr Basem Jamal

    Assalamu Alaikum Brothers and Sisters,

    This is the final segment on the Prophet Muhammed’s beloved companions and their tremendous acts for the sake of Allah. In this segment we look at Sayyidina Talha and his greatest contributions to the safety of the Prophet in the Battle of Badr and his role as a matyr for the sake of Allah. Dr Basem also narrates to us about Sayyidina Abu Ubaida and examples of his heroic contributions to defend the Prophet from mortal danger in the battle of Badr. We also look at another woman companion Um Umar who defended the Prophet by putting her life and her childrens’ lives at risk just so she can see the Prophet in the Hereafter.

    Dr Basem closes this emotional lecture with the closest and wisest companion of the Prophet, the dearly beloved Sayyidena Abu Bakr and his connection with the Prophet Muhammed. He also narrates the last moments on this Earth of our beloved Prophet Muhammed. There was not a dry tear in the Mosque.

    Tonight’s lecture was a continuation from the previous night’s talk on the above title. Dr.  Basem looks at one of the greatest women companions of the Prophet Muhammed, Um Sulema and how she sacrificed the lives of her children for the Prophet. He goes onto another very close companion, Sayyidena Anas who was one of the scribes of the Prophet.
