Ramadan 2009(Night 20) — The Night of Power(Laylatul Qadr) & Quran By Dr Basem Jamal

Assalamu Alaikum brothers and sisters,

As we approach the last 10 days of Ramadan, brother Basem articulates the greatest day in a year and one of the greatest blessings of Allah(SWT) to mankind, Laylatul Qadr. After a brief introduction of the significance of it and how to act on that day , brother Basem will give us a glimpse of the Hereafter and what we should expect on that monumental day. We will also hear how each of our acts of worship during the month of Ramadan will help us reach Laylatul Qadr and relieve us on that great day.

We move to the area of how to recite the Quran in a way that Allah(SWT) will accept our recitation.We look at the physical and spiritual cleansing process we should follow before reading the Quran and the recommended approach while reading the Quran as per the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammed(PBUH).

Ramadan 2009 (Night 19) — The Forgiveness of Allah(SWT) II and The Attribute of Peace of Allah(SWT) By Dr Basem Jamal

Assalamu Alaikum brothers and sisters,

This is the final chapter in the lecture series on Forgiveness of Allah(SWT) by brother Basem.The previous night’s lecture looked at the uniqueness and unending forgiveness of Allah(SWT) and this lecture will look at how the best soul to walk this Earth,Prophet Muhammed(PBUH) approached Allah(SWT) in asking for His forgiveness.

You will hear the different ways and supplications the Prophet(PBUH) would go through on a daily basis to ensure total submission and humility in asking for Allah(SWT)‘s forgiveness.

Brother Basem will also look at another attribute of Allah(SWT),the attribute of peace
of Allah(SWT). We will hear the extent of His Majesty’s peace towards us and how the Prophet Muhammed(PBUH) would praise and glorify the Allah(SWT) in relation to his attribute of peace.We will hear certain practical points that we can perform on a daily basis to follow the Prophet(PBUH)‘s path of glorifying and praising Allah(SWT) in relation to peace.

Ramadan 2009 (Night 18): The Forgiveness Of Allah I By Dr Basem Jamal

Assalamu alaikum Brothers and Sisters,

This will be a starting lecture for the next 10 days in which the most important in our life in a year of Laylatul Qadr may occur. It also supposed to be start of the 10 days in which Allah’s forgiveness is to be of focus during Ramadan according to reputed scholars of the past. Aptly, Brother Basem starts with the attribute of Allah of forgiveness in this audio lecture.

We will hear an explanation of three different types of forgiveness of Allah — Al Ghafur, Al Ghaffar and Al Ghafir that is mentioned in the Quran.Brother Basem will show us how each of these different facets of forgiveness of Allah are vital for us realise the glory of Allah. In conclusion we will benfit from some practical acts that we can perform to in prayer and in our daily life to accrue Allah’s blessings.

This is the introductory lecture in the series of lectures into the person’s repentence and the forgiveness of Allah. Brother Smail delves into the origin of the word Tawba and some of its qualities as well as the types of forgiveness according to the scholars and Quran. He succintly explains the natural state of mind of human beings in relation to asking for forgiveness from Allah and how Tawba helps us realize our purpose in the this World.

Look forward to the next lecture for a look at the different types of sins and how we can avoid them and purify ourselves from those sins.

Brother Smail continues from the previous night’s Khathira on Forgiveness of Allah. In addition he looks at the important Battle of Badr and lessons for us from this historic Battle. Incidentally, it is in the 17th day of Ramadan that the Battle of Badr was fought. We will hear the concern of the Ansars in Madina, the resolve of the Muslims in the face of a impossible situation and risk to their lives for the sake of Allah and other important lessons.

He completes the lecture with a look at more rewards from Allah for Muslims who observed brotherhood in this world.

Ramadan 2009 (Night 13): Brotherhood for Allah’s Sake I By Dr Basem Jamal

Assalamu Alaikum Brothers and Sisters,

This is another lecture of the many lectures at Yusuf Mosque given every night in Ramadan for your benefit.

Brother Basem, as he has done throught this Ramadan, has produced another meaningful but concise lecture in addressing the important matter of brotherhood (Ukhuwwa in Arabic) of the Muslims. Ukhuwwa is a general term applying to sisterhood and brotherhood.

He starts off with a narration of a Hadith that provides us with the correct approach to brotherhood. We also hear how Umar Al Khattab provides an excellent example of how to treat your fellow Muslims. We will also hear more examples of how the Companions treated their fellow Muslims and their genuine concern for them.

Dr Basem wraps up the lecture with a few practical points on how to strengthen your kinship with your brothers and sisters daily in this world so we meet them Insha Allah in Jannah forever.

Ramadan Schedule

We are pleased to  announce our general schedule for the month of Ramadan starting Insha Allah Saturday August 22nd 2009 for Yusuf Mosque as well as the Mosque situated at 41 Quint Avenue Brighton below.

At Yusuf Mosque :

- Daily Ifthar starting saturday August 22nd 2009 until end of Ramadan. You are most welcome to bring your favorite dishes or dates and refreshments to share with your brothers and sisters.  

- Daily Tharaweeh prayers will be conducted by Sheik Abdel Monem starting Friday August 21st 2009 9pm.

 At Quint Avenue Mosque :

- Ifthar will be conducted only on Fridays and Saturdays at this location starting Saturday August 22nd 2009 until end of Ramadan.You are most welcome to bring your favorite dishes or dates and refreshments to share with your brothers and sisters.
- Daily Tharaweeh prayers will be conducted by Sheik Kamal Al Arabi starting Friday August 21st 2009 9pm .

We are pleased to let you know that Sheik Kamal Al Arabi had arrived today Masha Allah.Sheik Kamal is from Libya and has visited us before as visiting Sheik during the previous Ramadan period as well. Sheik Kamal will be the visiting Sheik at the Mosque in 41 Quint Avenue Brighton MA 02135 for the month of Ramadan to conduct five obligatory prayers as well as the Tharaweeh prayers at Quint Avenue Mosque.
