۩ RAMADAN 2010
The Ramadan Calendar
The Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA) and the European Council for Fatwa and Research (ECFR) recognize astronomical calculation as an acceptable Shar’ia method for determining the beginning of lunar months including the months of Ramadan and Shawwal. The FCNA & ECFR use Makkah al-Mukarramah as a conventional point, and take the position that the conjunction must take place before sunset in Makkah and the moon must set after sunset in Makkah. On the basis of this method the dates of Ramadan and Eid ul-Fitr for the year 1431 AH are established as follows:
- 1st of Ramadan will be on Wednesday, August 11, 2010
- 1st of Shawwal, which marks the start of Eid ul-Fitr, will be on Friday, September 10, 2010.
The Tarawih Prayers start Tuesday August 10, 2010
- at YUSUF MOSQUE: Tarawih @ 9:45 pm immediately after Isha @ 9:30 pm
- at the YUSUF Mussalla, 41 Quint Ave Allston ~ Tarawih @ 9:45 pm immediately after Isha @ 9:30 pm
The Daily Iftar Program
Please contribute to sponsoring the Iftar meals this Ramadan 1431 Hijri (2010). The meals offered in the mosque’s lounge downstairs attract students, families, friends and friends in need so they can reunite, socialize and pray together. Young adults get to experience Ramadan evenings at the mosque. We need your financial support to make this possible. Please sincerely Donate to cover part or all the expenses of a specific night or multiple nights. The more people contribute, the smoother the Iftar operation will perform. The donation targets below ($500 Mon-Thu; $800 Fri, Sat) include the cost of:
- Free Iftar meals (average of 60 meals during the week days, and 100 on Fri-Sun; estimated at $7 each)
- Utilities (electric, water, gas, AC)
- Parking control staff
- General charity
YUSUF MOSQUE depends on the generous support of responsible friends like you who realize the importance of instituting, improving and sustaining mosques.
Thank You
